Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy has said he believes the Grammy-award winner Burna Boy is not a “new cat” in the music industry as pop star Davido recently claimed.
Davido raised dust during an interview when he said he and Wizkid were the first Nigerian artistes to break into the global stage.
He then mentioned some new talents like Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake as “new cats” while also including Burna Boy on the list.
Davido and Burna Boy have had a longstanding feud, although in 2021 the latter claimed he did not have issues with Davido.
Baring his mind on the “new cat” controversy, Stonebwoy told GoldMyne TV recently that Burna Boy does not belong to the category of new cats.
He said, “Burna Boy is not a new cat to me because Burna has been there for more than a decade.
“If Davido said that, I honestly do not believe that he means that outrightly. New cats would be Rema, Ruger them.
“So, I don’t believe Davido meant that but also if you ask me, I think Wizkid and Davido had a fair share of international appeal earlier than Burna.”
