President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after receiving medical attention in London for 103 days.

The presidential jet touched down at the airport at 4:35pm having left London at 10:27am.

Governors at the airport included Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Muhammed Abubakar of Bauchi, Abubakar Bello of Niger, Nyeson Wike of Rivers, Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi and Deputy governor of Kaduna State, Barnabas Bala.

Decked in a brown kaftan, the President did not inspect the Guard of Honour mounted for him before proceeding to the presidential lodge with dignitaries who were on hand to receive him.

The airport was at a standstill as workers made frantic efforts to get a glimpse of the President who spent over 100 days on medical vacation in London.

Hundreds of supporters also stormed the airport to welcome the President who has been away since May 7.

President spokesman, Femi Adesina, had earlier on Saturday announced that his boss was returning to the country later in the day.

Adesina said in a statement that Buhari is expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7 a.m on Monday.

He said the President thanked “all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well-being since the beginning of the health challenge”.
