Bricklayer in court for allegedly stealing church generator

Oyo State Police have arraigned bricklayer Kasali Abesinde in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing a generator belonging to a church in Ibadan.

The 45-year-old who lives at St. Stephen, Bola, was arraigned on Friday with three counts of breaking and entering, stealing and unlawful possession of electronic gadgets.

Mr Abesinde has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police Prosecutor Sgt. Oluseye Oyebanji told the court that Abesinde on Sunday December 2, at about 4 p.m. allegedly broke into Christ Apostolic Church, Garden of Miracle, Mokola and stole one Elepac generator valued N95,000.

Mr Oyebanji said that the accused also stole an extension box valued N1,500 and a rechargeable lamp.

Oyebanji added that the complainant Olayinka Okunrotifa who lives at No. 2, Queen Elizabeth road, Mokola reported the matter at Mokola Police station on Monday at about 8: 30am.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of section 390 (9), 415 and 430 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol.II, Laws of Oyo state 2000.

Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till January 8 for mention.
