Gunmen on Tuesday night abducted students of Greenfield University, a private varsity in Kaduna State.

The university located along the Kaduna–Abuja highway in Chikun Local Government Area is the first private university in the state established about three years ago.

Although, the number of students abducted has not been confirmed, the state commissioner for internal security and home affairs Samuel Aruwan has confirmed the incident.

The attack is the first major one launched on communities around the Kaduna-Abuja highway since 300 female soldiers were deployed to the area in January this year.

It is, however, the second time gunmen would storm a higher institution in Kaduna after the attack at Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation last month.

Twenty-nine students of the college still remain with their abductors after 10 students were freed few days ago.
