Basmati rice post not about Angela Okorie, actor Mofe Duncan clears air

Actor Mofe Duncan has said that his post about the correct spelling of Basmati rice was not a shade at his colleague Angela Okorie.

Recall that Angela made headlines earlier in April when a video of her pronouncing Basmati rice as ‘basmatic rice” went viral as many made jest of her.

However, on Tuesday, Mofe Duncan in an Instagram post wrote: “(TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN) GOOD MORNING NIGERIANS… PLEASE IT IS NOT BASMATIC RICE, IT IS BASMATI RICE.HAVE A BLESSED DAY.”

Some media reports subsequently claimed Duncan was mocking Angela with the post but the actor quickly debunked the speculations.

“Abeg I wasn’t referring to anybody o! I’m seeing tags suggesting was, haven’t even seen the video o. I’m speaking mostly to the staff of food establishments,” he wrote.

In another post, he added: “YOU BLOGGERS JUST LIKE TO START TROUBLE. @REALANGELAOKORIE IS MY GEE AND WASN’T REFERRING TO HER. DIDN’T MENTION HER NOR DID I TAG HER… WAS SPEAKING TO THE STAFF OF FAST FOOD JOINTS AND RESTAURANTS. YOU PEOPLE SHOULD REST IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!”
