Awosika celebrates billionaire Oba Otudeko at 80

Former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd Ibukun Awosika has sent a congratulatory message to the chairman of Honeywell Group Oba Otudeko on his 80th birthday.

Otudeko, a billionaire investor who retured as chairman of FBN Holdings in 2010, clocked 80 on Friday.

In celebration, Awosika posted on Instagram a video showing the celebrant’s biography.

She captioned it, “Celebrating a father, grandfather, husband, entrepreneur per excellence, nurturer of talents, an enduring leader and a Nation builder as he turns 80! As your days are so shall your strength be. I celebrate you Dr Oba Otudeko.”

Otudeko recently purchased 4.7 billion FBN shares through proxies in a move many saw as his plot to return to the company’s board. But Ecobank wrote FBN not to accept the purchase, noting that Otudeko was owing it N13.5 billion, an allegation the businessman denied.

Meanwhile, on September 7, 2015, Awosika became the first woman to be appointed chairman of FirstBank following the resignation of Prince Ajibola Afonja.
