Atiku’s lawyers boycott Supreme Court

Atiku Abubakar

Lawyers representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate in the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday shunned the Supreme Court.

The apex court had fixed Friday to give its reasons for the dismissal of their appeal challenging the outcome of the February 23 presidential election.

All of the over 20 senior lawyers and over 30 juniors stayed away from the court.

However, lawyers who represent President Muhammadu Buhari, his party, the All Progressives Congress; and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were in court.

The Supreme Court led by Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, had on October 30 dismissed Atiku and PDP’s appeal, announcing that it would give reasons for its decision on a date to be later announced (Friday).
