Atiku mourns doctor who died of coronavirus in Lagos

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has mourned Dr Emeka Chugbo who died of coronavirus at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) on Wednesday.

Tweeting on Thursday, Atiku condoled the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on the loss.

“I commiserate with @nmanigeria over the death of Dr Emeka Chugbo and Dr Aliyu Yakubu. The deceased cases reinforce the need to intensify the supply of all necessities, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to protect medical personnel,” he wrote.

“When we lose critical medical personnel in the frontline, we inadvertently compromise the fight against #COVID19.”

The NMA, Lagos State chapter, had on Wednesday announced the death of Chugbo on Twitter.

“NMA LAGOS regrets to announce the death of Dr. Chugbo Emeka at the LUTH isolation ward. He died on 15/04/2020.He was a Private Medical Practitioner who was exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19. We condole with his family and d medical community for this painful loss,” it said.
