Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former presidential candidate Prof. Kingsley Moghalu have paid tribute to late veteran actor Baba Suwe.

Baba Suwe died on Monday November 22, 2021.

In a tribute to the deceased on Monday, Atiku, on Twitter, thanked the late actor for bringing so much happiness and joy to his fans.

“Babatunde Omidina, aka Baba Suwe, thank you so very much for bringing so much happiness and joy into our homes. May your soul rest in peace,” he wrote.

Moghalu also wrote on Twitter saying, “Like millions of fellow citizens, I received with sadness the news of the passing of the Nigerian star actor, Babatunde Omidina, aka Baba Suwe. He brought smiles on the faces of Nigerians and will be sorely missed. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss. RIP.”

Baba Suwe began his acting career in 1971, he is well known for his comic roles in movies.

In 2011, he was accused of cocaine trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, an allegation that was described as false and defamatory by the ruling of the Lagos State High Court. His solicitor was the late Bamidele Aturu, a Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist. Many believed that the accusation triggered his health crisis.

The late actor lost his wife Omoladun Omidina in 2009. He is survived by three children.
