Investment banker Atedo Peterside has criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar over a meeting held at the State Department in the US with the assistant secretary, Bureau of African Affairs Molly Phee.

Atiku and several PDP stakeholders, including Raymond Dokpesi, Bukola Saraki, Ndudi Elumelu, Emeka Ihedioha, Reno Omokri, and Dino Melaye, met with Phee in Washington DC last week.

The PDP presidential candidate posted photos of the meeting on social media.

He said, “The focus of our discussions were on the critical need to seek collaborative solutions to our local issues on democracy and governance, our deteriorating security and the economy.”

On Monday, however, Peterside asked on Twitter if the general public should celebrate the PDP leaders for meeting with the US official.

“This photograph is from the Twitter handle of @atiku. Are we supposed to celebrate the fact that a lone white lady from the State Dept in the USA agreed to see 16 black men from Nigeria or what exactly?” The founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc wrote.

Peterside tagged other frontline presidential candidates — Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso — to his post.
