This is not the first time that Aremu Afolayan would claim to have grown up in poverty.

Aremu, who is the younger brother of popular filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, drew the ire of his older brother in April 2018 when he said in a PUNCH interview that he was born poor in spite of their father’s fame.

Responding, in another interview with the newspaper, Kunle said Aremu was on his own, and that they were not from a poor home.
