The National Assembly was thrown into a rowdy session on Wednesday when the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers rose in defence of President Muhammadu Buhari after the president was booed by opposition lawmakers.

Mr Buhari was jeered while listing his administration’s achievements in an address to the joint session of the National Assembly.

The opposition lawmakers chorused “No!” as Buhari mentioned each achievement.

When he said, “We have weathered the storms and made progress on every front,” they screamed, “Nooooo! Boooo!”

When he said, “The economy has recovered well,‎” the lawmakers screamed again.

APC lawmakers then rose in support of the president, challenging their colleagues in the opposition to be quiet.

Buhari who was displeased with the development was forced to say, “The world is watching us and we are supposed to be above this.”

The protesters however continued, particularly when Buhari said his administration had made success in its anti-corruption campaign.

After the president had finished his presentation, APC lawmakers gave Buhari a standing ovation, applauding him and chanting loudly Sai Baba as he descended from the podium.
