Anti-Tinubu Ibom Air passenger Obiajulu Uja remanded in prison

Ibom Air passenger kicked out of Lagos-bound flight

A Zuba Magistrates’ Court in Abuja has remanded Obiajulu Uja in prison custody following his arraignment on Monday, April 3.

His lawyer Ejike Ugwu disclosed this to The PUNCH.

Mr Uja created a scene on March 31 by screaming in an Ibom Air aircraft that President-elect Bola Tinubu must not be sworn in as president on May 29.

Uja, who is from Oji-River Local Government Area of Enugu State, was carried off the Abuja to Lagos aircraft by airport authorities and security officials attached to the airline after delaying the flight’s take-off.

But his lawyer claimed he was not in the right state of mind.

“Obiajulu was not in the right state of mind before he boarded the flight. He was chased away from a hotel in Abuja because of his mental state.

“He even booked three different flights for the Lagos trip. He booked Aero, Dana and Ibom Air. He had the three tickets for the same trip. So, there is no doubt that he is mentally challenged,” the lawyer said.

He added that “the suspect’s legs are all swollen now because of the several beatings he received at the Airport. He is critically sick right now.”

Following the incident, some persons claimed the man was the husband of a presenter at TVC Obiajulu Ugboh.

Ndi Kato, a spokesperson for the Obi-Datti presidential campaign, said when she featured on Arise TV that the supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party known as Obidients investigated and found that the flight disruptor was married to a presenter at TVC. She did not mention any name.

Mrs Ugboh has denied the allegations and threatened to sue for defamation.
