The Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Commerce, Deji Tinubu, is dead.

Tinubu, who was Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, until a cabinet reshuffle last month, died late on Thursday during a novelty match in the Epe area of Lagos State.

He was attending a three-day retreat for members of the State Executive Council, Body of Permanent Secretaries and heads of government agencies and parastatals held at Jubilee Chalet, Epe.

It was gathered that Tinubu slumped in the field and was confirmed dead at the General Hospital in Epe.

Sources said the former board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was certified healthy during the screening carried out before the start of the novelty game aimed at ensuring none of the government officials had such misfortune.

The state government was yet to react officially to the death as at the time of filing this report.

Son of the late Chief Kafaru Tinubu, the deceased is the younger brother of Oando CEO, Wale Tinubu, and nephew of former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.

He is survived by his wife, Yemisi Tinubu (née Majekodunmi); children; his mother, Chief Bintu Tinubu, and many siblings.
