Former Oyo State First Lady Florence Ajimobi says her husband’s death made her understand the “true meaning of heartbreak”.

Mrs Ajimobi said this in a tribute posted on Instagram on Thursday marking 40 days after the death of Abiola Ajimobi.

“It has been 40 days of sleeplessness, pain and at the same time joy for a life well lived. Sleeplessness when I lie down on our bed and I see that empty space where you would always lie beside me,” she wrote.

“Every day without you has been so tough. I never knew the true meaning of heartbreak. I never knew such extreme emotional pain. I never knew my heart could hurt this much,” she added.

The former first lady had recently said she was sure her husband was in heaven.

“Life is short. Abiola Ajimobi has gone today, who is next? Nobody knows. It could be anybody,” she had said during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Ajimobi died on June 25 of multiple organ failure following complications from coronavirus. He was 70 years old.
