The remains of former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, have been laid to rest in Ibadan on Sunday.

The 70-year-old was buried around 10:05 am according to Islamic rites at his 6th Avenue, Yemoja Street, Oluyole Estate residence in Ibadan, amid tight security.

The Ajimobi family had preferred to bury their patriarch at the property in Agodi GRA but were stopped on the ground that there was litigation on the property.

The late politician was said to have been buried in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.

Less than 20 people, including his widow, Florence Ajimobi, and other members of his immediate family, were in attendance at the funeral.

Party faithful and other loyalists of the late politician were barred from the scene of the burial.

Following his interment, prayers were said for his repose at noon at the Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Mosque, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

Ajimobi died at a Lagos hospital of multiple organ failure occasioned by the coronavirus.
