Aisha Buhari causes stir with anti-Buhari videos

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Friday shared videos of senators condemning the administration of her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Using her verified Twitter account, the First Lady reposted clips of Senators Isah Misau and Ben Murray-Bruce accusing her husband of incompetence.

In one of the videos, Misau argued that Buhari was not in charge of affairs in the country.

“It’s as if some people are the ones in charge of this country,” said the lawmaker representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District.

Citing the recent appointment of Ahmed Abubakar as director general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) as example, Misau said a cabal was running affairs.

Questioning Abubakar’s qualification for the appointment, Misau said “this is a person that failed two exams,” adding that he was appointed “because he is close to the cabal.”

According to him, 50 per cent of Buhari’s ministers are not performing.

On his part, Ben-Bruce said Nigeria is becoming a lawless country, “a country with no rules and regulations.

The senator representing Bayelsa East pointed to the situation where people are killed and raped without consequences as ominous signs.

Mrs Buhari had raised similar issues in a controversial 2016 interview with the BBC.

“Most of those that are occupying positions in agencies, nobody knows them and they themselves don’t know our party manifesto; what we campaigned for; they were not part of us completely. People were sitting down in their houses, folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position,” she said back then.

She even threatened not to support her husband if he decides to re-contest in 2019 if things don’t change.

Critics of the Buhari administration jumped on Friday’s tweets to campaign against the President and his supporters.
