Chairman Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board Imo Udobia

Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board, Imo Udobia, has died, according to a report by ibomreporters.com.

Born on May 2, 1962, he was 55 years old.

Udobia died on Sunday but the cause of his death has not been made public.

He was chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom before he was appointed chairman of the education board in September 2016 by Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Udobia had in 2016 lamented what he called an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) clamp down on local government chairmen on Akwa Ibom State.

While defending his board’s 2017 budget before the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in January, Udobia said one of the major problems faced by the board was the lack of a functional sport utility vehicle for inspecting and monitoring public schools in the state.

The deceased is the younger brother of Benji Udobia, a political leader in Esit Eket and CEO of Eden Hotels as well as owner of Benest Technical services.
