Agbowu drags Oluwo to court, demands N100m over assault

Oluwo of Iwo Land Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi

The Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikirullahi Akinropo, has filed a suit against the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, for allegedly assaulting him.

In the writ of summons dated February 27, the claimant’s lawyer, Soji Oyetayo, also asked the Osun State High Court for a perpetual injunction restraining the Oluwo and his ‘agents’ from further assaulting him.

The Agbowu wants the court to grant him N100 million as damages and another N1 million as cost of litigation.

Six other monarchs from the three local government areas in Iwo, who witnessed the alleged assault, also deposed to affidavits to testify on behalf of the Agbowu against the Oluwo.

No judge has been assigned the case yet.

Oba Akanbi had allegedly assaulted his colleague over land dispute in Iwo land at a meeting called by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, Bashir Makama, and two state commissioners in Osogbo.

The Agbowu later got treatment at a state hospital.

The Oluwo was consequently suspended from attending the Osun State Traditional Rulers Council meeting for six months.

Oba Akanbi initially refused to obey the council. He later yielded to its decision.
