Actor arrested for impersonating Mr Ibu

The police have arrested a Nollywood actor whose name was withheld for impersonating veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, on social media.

Updating the public on the matter in a statement posted on Ibu’s new Instagram account on Thursday, the post stated that the police have arrested the scammer. It also revealed that the account was hacked by a fellow actor and he has confessed to the crime.

The statement also pointed out that revealing the hacker’s identity “depends on how far the extent of the damages that he was using the account to do was”.

The statement signed by Ibu’s daughter Chioma Okafor read in parts: “We reveal his identity or temper justice with as he has been begging for forgiveness since yesterday! Note he also hacked his Facebook and the email he uses in receiving notifications from banks.

“He’s only begging we cover his identity because he said it will Jeopardize his career in the Nollywood industry! Please what do y’all suggest we do in this regard! Keep sharing until it gets to the appropriate news agencies! Thanks regards! Chioma Jasmine.”
