Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, has died of complications from the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Presidency has said.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday.

“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020. May God accept his soul.

”Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly,” the statement said.

Kyari was flown to Lagos for treatment after his coronavirus status was discovered on return from a trip to Germany.

His location, however, was not disclosed as the Commissioner for Health in Lagos, Prof Akin Abayomi, once said he had no knowledge of the chief of staff’s location.
