Niyi Akinmolayan partners with Amazon for film distribution

Filmmaker and founder of Anthill Productions, Niyi Akinmolayan, has announced a new partnership with Hollywood’s Amazon Prime Video to distribute Nollywood movies on its platform.

The announcement was made in an Instagram post on Friday.

“We are super excited to announce to the world that Anthill Studios has officially signed a multi-year licensing deal with Amazon Prime Video.

“Prime Video will have exclusive, worldwide distribution rights to Anthill’s slate of theatrical releases, starting in 2022, which will be made available to an audience of more than 200 million Prime Video members worldwide following their cinema run in Nigeria! We have so much to give this year and we can’t wait to share them with the world!” the post read.

Speaking on the new deal, Niyi wrote: “The beauty of this is that we can expand the range of stories we want to tell and explore other genre. Even create new ones like Jujufi lol because there’s a bigger audience. And for anthill we love to tell all kinds of stories. We have even started working on our animated feature.

“This also means that I get to share a lot of great things with you as these films are fully owned by Anthill studios and we want to bless the industry with knowledge.”

Niyi has produced and directed several movies like Elevator Baby, Days of Destiny, Prophetess and others.

His latest movie, Progressive Tailors Club, featured Nollywood stars like Beverly Osu, Femi Adebayo, Anthony Nwahiri, Jaiye Kuti, late Rachel Oniga and others.
