Comedian Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, clocked 39 on Thursday.
The native of Abia State was born in Ajegunle, Lagos State.
Being multi-talented, he discovered his skill in drumming in 1991 followed by taking up rapping in 1994 with a rap group called Da Psychophats and later moved on to join Da Oddz in 1995.
Bright completed his primary and secondary school education in Apapa, Lagos and then moved on to pursue a degree at the University of Benin where he studied sociology and anthropology with his brother Godwin.
The comedy race began for Basketmouth while on campus, but his first appearance was a failure, and that prompted him to improve on his method.
His big break finally came when he met Ali Baba in 2001.
From then till now, Basketmouth has remained firmly grounded in the consciousness of the public as one of Nigeria’s finest comedians and creative minds.
Basketmouth who is still very much active in the comedy scene in Nigeria has endorsement deals with Glo and Dana Air.
He is married to Elsie Okpocha and has two children named Jason and Janelle.
