No less than four persons have died following a gas explosion on Tuesday morning in Kano, according to the police.
Kano State commissioner of police Samaila Dikko said in a broadcast that gas exploded at a welding point near a primary school on Aba Road in Sabon Gari area.
According to him, rescue workers are making efforts to discover people trapped at the building where the explosion occurred.
Dikko urged residents of the state to remain calm, adding that the situation was under control.
The explosion, which occurred near Winners Kids Academy, resulted in damage in some buildings in the area.
