Four persons have been injured in an accident on Tuesday morning on Oke Afa-Isolo Bridge in Lagos.

The driver of a commercial bus who tried to maneuver his way around a fallen fuel tanker, had his bus burnt in the process.

The bus was carrying 14 passengers from Ikeja to Igando when the incident occurred at about 6:30a.m as it was ascending the bridge connecting Oke Afa with Isolo, Okota and some others in Oshodi-Isolo LGA.

The incident left hundreds of commuters stranded.

A witness said that four occupants of the bus including the driver were taken to Isolo General Hospital for treatment.

The tanker, which was coming from Ejigbo Depot, fell on the bridge on Monday evening.

The witness said the bus’s exhaust pipe, while ascending the bridge, absorbed petrol from potholes into which petrol spilled when the tanker fell on the foot of the bridge.

The bus’s exhaust pipe scratched the bridge pavement and ignited fire, he said.

Officials of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA), firemen and other volunteers arrived at the scene to handle the situation.
