Oyesanmi-Ayomikun jailed for sharing pornographic images

An Ibadan-based internet fraudster, Oyesanmi Oluwaseun, has been sentenced to four months in prison for sharing pornographic and indecent images through his email address, mikeclark861@gmail.com.

Mr Oyesanmi had pleaded guilty to a one-count amended charge of sending pornographic and indecent pictures filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

EFCC said Oyesanmi was in the habit of sending pornographic pictures through his email address, posing as a woman to his victims, with the intention to extort money from them.

Oyesanmi was arrested on January 31, 2019, following a complaint from a man, Michael Clark, whom he had defrauded of a sum of $500.

The accused’s lawyer had made a plea bargain after the suspect showed remorse during investigation, prompting the EFCC to drop the initial six-count charge of documents forgery and obtaining through false pretence preferred against him to just one.

On the plea bargain, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Ibadan sentenced the accused to four months imprisonment with effect from his day of arrest.

The judge also ruled that the said money ($500) be returned.  Oyesanmi will also forfeit some of his personal property to the government.
