Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike will on Thursday inaugurate a nine-man independent and investigative panel to probe the death of Greatness Olorunfemi.

The 33-year-old was on September 26 thrown out of a moving vehicle along the Maitama-Kubwa highway by suspected criminals operating what is locally known as one chance.

Reports say sympathisers rushed the victim to Maitama District Hospital, but she did not get medical assistance until she died. The hospital has since debunked the allegation.

A statement by the office of the mandate secretary, Health Service and Environment Secretariat (FCT), Dr Dolapo Fasawe and signed by the assistant director, Badiru Yakassi, said the investigative panel would be inaugurated by 10 am Thursday at the secretariat.

The panel comprises the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDDAN), Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM); Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and others.

Wike expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and assured that the investigation would be conducted transparently.

The statement said the findings of the panel would be made public.

Olorunfemi was the assistant secretary and public relations officer of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Abuja chapter. She was also a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) network.
