Wigwe’s family concludes weeklong funeral with outing service

The family of the late former chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc Herbert Wigwe on Sunday held an outing service in thanksgiving to God for a successful funeral.

Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son Chizi were buried on Saturday in the banker’s hometown Omueke, Isiokpo in Rivers State.

On February 9, the trio alongside former group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two pilots, died in a helicopter crash near Halloran Springs, California, United States.

The outing service, which saw everyone dressed in white, concludes the weeklong funeral that began on Monday, March 4.

The service which was held at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lion of Judah Parish, in Isiokpo, comes a day after dignitaries gathered in the oil-rich state to honour the dead.

Personalities present were the Senate President Godswill Akpabio; FCT minister, Nyesom Wike; businessman Aliko Dangote, former emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II; Governor Alex Otti, Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Senate President Bukola Saraki; Governor Babajide Sawno-Olu, former presidential candidate, Peter Obi; and former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Other dignitaries in attendance were Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and state commissioner of police Tunji Disu, who was the chief security officer (CSO) of the burial ceremony.
