Nigerians hail Pastor Taiwo Odukoya for sermon on women

Nigerians have hailed the senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Taiwo Odukoya, for his sermon on women empowerment.

Although it is unclear when the sermon was preached, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to rebroadcast the one-minute video.

Odukoya said in the video: “Somebody was asking the question, he said ‘Why women?’ I said ‘Because by creation and regeneration their role is very serious.’ What is it? Oh yea the man is the champion, the man is the leader, but the man is as strong as his props. The women are the props of the men.

“So if you don’t empower the women, that’s the extent of your strength. And even the United Nations knows that today. I heard somebody interviewing somebody he said ‘Look if you are going to solve problems like we have in the North I think massive education of the women should start. I was listening to him and he said ‘Then they’ll be empowered, they’ll be able to fend for themselves.

“Number two, they won’t give birth to 12 children anymore. They won’t be forced to marriage at age six anymore. And then most of the problems they are seeing today will cease.”

Odukoya lost his wife, Bimbo, to a plane crash in 2005. He is now married to Nomthi Odukoya.
