Why NIPOST staff locked up new postmaster general Tola Odeyemi

Staff of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) on Monday shut down the head office over the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the new postmaster general (PMG).

Last week, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of Odeyemi as NIPOST boss.

But NIPOST said in a separate statement that Tinubu reinstated Sunday Adepoju who was in charge of NIPOST before Odeyemi’s appointment.

Some of the protesting workers, who spoke with NAN on the condition of anonymity, said Odeyemi was appointed against their wish and as such could not be allowed to assume her new role.

They called on Tinubu to reverse her appointment.
