Tiwi, wife of Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, has revealed that she does not use social media platforms apart from LinkedIn.
Speaking on her newly launched YouTube podcast Bare by BKO, Tiwi said many people are often surprised to learn that she is not active on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and X.
According to her, she stepped away from social media to rediscover herself and prepare for the life she now lives as the wife of a public figure.
“So the big response for why I was not on social media was that I had no idea who I was and what I was meant to be contributing to other people, and therefore, I didn’t feel like being online and using my influence in a lukewarm way was enough to justify spending so much time on an app,” she said.
“I also didn’t know at the time that God was cleaning out my digital footprint because of the person I was going to marry. I had no idea I was going to marry this superstar who had such a strong public image with limited controversy.”
Tiwi said the reality of her absence from social media became more obvious after her marriage to Kunle.
“When I got married to my husband, I was told by one of my girlfriends that everyone’s getting notifications all around the world, and Tiwi is getting zero,” she said.
“And when she said that to me, it dawned on me.”
She added that she does not have social media apps on her personal phone and only accesses them occasionally through her husband’s phone when necessary.
“I am not on any social media channels, except for LinkedIn. That is the honest answer. I don’t have a burner page or pages,” she added.
“I don’t have the apps on my personal phone. If I need to get on Instagram, TikTok, you name it, I would have to go on my husband’s phone when he is home and available, and his phone is not in use.”
“I am not a scroller. Like, I literally am looking for something specific, and that’s it.”
Kunle and Tiwi made their relationship public in January 2024 when the actor unveiled her as his wife. The couple held their traditional and white wedding ceremonies in Ibadan and Lagos respectively.
In March 2025, the couple announced the birth of their first child, Eemi Oluwa, after what Kunle described as a challenging medical journey that included weeks of bed rest and visits to the neonatal intensive care unit.
