We won’t share National Assembly leadership with PDP this time – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole

National chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the party would not share power with the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oshiomhole said this on Monday during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) with elected party members of House of Representatives.

National Assembly leaders, Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, at the beginning of the 8th Assembly, defied the APC leadership to set up a leadership structure with the help of PDP lawmakers despite the APC having more lawmakers in both chambers.

Oshiomhole, however, told the reps-elect that the party would not allow what happened in 2015 to reoccur in 2019.

He said the party needs a collaborative legislature to provide good governance to the people.

The APC chairman read the Riot Act to the newly elected members and added that critical committees must be chaired by party members.

Oshiomhole said the party would carry out extensive consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari and leadership of the party at all levels to reach a zoning formula that will be acceptable to all members and the party.
