Uzo Amaka-led Call of My Life opens with N78.2m in cinemas

Nollywood romantic comedy Call of My Life featuring Uzo Amaka has opened in cinemas nationwide with a reported N78.2m at the box office.

Film distribution company FilmOne Entertainment announced the figure on Instagram on Monday while sharing updates on the film’s opening weekend performance.

The company wrote, “Nigerians answered a major call and we love to see it!

“Call of My Life just cleared the airwaves with a 74.4M opening, making us the No. 1 film this weekend also;

“• 3rd biggest Nollywood opening of 2026.
• The biggest Romcom debut outside of Val’s season
• A record-breaking start for Bluhouse Studios.
• 2026’s highest-grossing directorial debut.

“We’re blushing harder than a @uzoamakapower (Soluchi) and this is all you!

“Thank you for showing up, showing out, and proving that love (and good cinema) always wins.”

The film follows Soluchi, played by Uzo Amaka, a woman dealing with heartbreak after a breakup with her former lover Kalu, played by Zubby Michael. Her life changes after a work related phone call connects her with Eli, played by Andrew Yaw Bunting.

The movie was directed by Dammy Twitch, marking his feature film directorial debut after years of directing music videos. It was produced by Blessing Uzzi under Bluhouse Studios.

The cast also includes Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Beverly Osu, Broda Shaggi and Justin UG.

The romantic comedy was shot in Lagos, Abuja and Enugu and opened in cinemas on May 15.
