UBA’s Omede Odekina replaces Abdul Imoyo as ACAMB spokesperson

Media relations manager of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Omede Odekina has been elected publicity secretary of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB).

Mr Odekina replaces Abdul Imoyo who held the position until his death on December 17, 2023, at First Cardiology, Ikoyi, Lagos, after a brief illness.

Mr Imoyo was also head of media relations at Access Bank. He was buried on January 18.

According to an announcement on Wednesday after the ACAMB held its elections and annual general meeting in Lagos, head of corporate communications at Polaris Bank, Rasheed Bolarinwa, was re-elected ACAMB president.

Mr Bolarinwa is the incumbent president of the association, having been elected for a first tenure of two years in 2022.

After the swearing-in of new executives, Bolarinwa thanked members of the association for giving him another opportunity to serve.

He appreciated the immediate past executives and promised to consolidate on the gains and explore new frontiers to take the association to greater heights.

Bolarin anticipated fostering collaboration with both familiar faces and new voices, steering towards even greater success.

“With the new executive committee, we will continue to strive for excellence, explore avenues for growth, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

“Our communication platform will foster flourishing ideas, strengthen relationships, and harness the collective wisdom of our diverse membership, from elders and past presidents to current members and associates, propelling us forward,” Bolarinwa said.

Other elected executives include Oze Kalu, first vice president (FirstBank); Tolulope Onipede, second vice president (Guaranty Trust Bank); Sipe Babajide, secretary general (EcoBank); Ikechukwu Iheagwam, assistant general secretary (Access Holdings Plc.); Hadjia Ishaq, financial secretary (Jaiz Bank); Morolake Ladipo, treasurer (Wema Bank); and Utulu Ozena, social secretary (Heritage Bank).
