Tyson Fury wears Nigeria gum shield during Wilder fight as Anthony Joshua looms

Tyson Fury sent a message to compatriot Anthony Joshua during his fight with American, Deontay Wilder, on Saturday by wearing a ‘Nigeria’ gum shield.

The Gypsy King won the WBC heavyweight title after overwhelmingly outclassing his opponent in the seventh round in Las Vegas.

Fury was spotted wearing the green and white Nigeria gum shield in a bizarre tribute to Joshua.

This has led to demands from boxing fans for him and Joshua to clash in an undisputed title fight.

Anthony Joshua, who visited a couple of places in Nigeria last week, is the reigning WBO, WBA, and IBF champ.

Joshua’s mother Yeta is Nigerian, while his father Robert has Nigerian and Irish ancestry.

His paternal great-grandfather is considered one of the greatest men of the town of Sagamu.

The boxer himself has a tattoo of Nigeria on his shoulder.
