Some Nigerians have expressed doubt over claim that Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West at the National Assembly has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
Melaye was due to appear in court in Kogi on Thursday over allegation of possession of illegal firearms.
Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, was first to raise an alarm that Melaye was abducted while he was on his way to for a court.
The 62-year-old took to Twitter to raise the alarm, stating that Melaye’s brother, Moses Melaye, informed him of the alleged abduction.
He wrote: “I have just been informed by Moses Melaye, @dino_melaye’s brother, that Dino has been abducted by unknown persons in a Toyota Sienna that blocked their car and overpowered them on their way to Kogi to answer to Dino’s court case. Let’s be on the watch out. Will keep you updated.”
Many, however, doubt that Melaye was kidnapped.
Pointing out that the senator attracts many controversies, they say this could be one of his ploys to be on the headlines.
