Tribal colourations dominate Orji Kalu’s conviction for fraud on Twitter

Nigerians on Twitter have imported tribal colourations in the 12-year sentencing of the former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Kalu, for N7.65 billion fraud.

Kalu and his company, Slok Nigeria Limited, were on Thursday found guilty of the entire 39 counts filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The former governor had been on trial for 12 years before judgement was delivered on Thursday.

Some Nigerians on Twitter say that Kalu was jailed because he is Igbo, adding that Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who was caught on camera collecting bribe, was spared from the law.
