#TransformationTuesday: Akwa Ibom boy accused of witchcraft goes to school

Hope Akwa Ibom boy rescued by Anja Ringgren Lovén

It has been one year since Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén, rescued Hope, a boy abandoned to die by his family who accused him of being a witch.

A haunting image of the emaciated, worm-infested child drinking water from a bottle in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State sent shock across the world.

Miraculously though, within weeks, Lovén, founder of the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF) had nursed him to health.

To celebrate one year of the rescue, Lovén recreated the image that introduced Hope to the world.

Instead of a shrunken boy, the boy in the new picture is healthy.

He is drinking from another bottle of water from his guardian angel who seems to have acquired better shine in the last year herself.

And the big news is that Hope is starting school this week.
