Gospel singer Tope Alabi has explained why she stopped helping people in the music industry, citing experiences she described as betrayal and conflict.

During a ministration, she said some of the individuals she supported and accommodated later turned against her, changing how she relates with people in the entertainment space.

She recalled an incident involving a married couple she allowed to stay in her home while supporting the woman’s music career.

“This lady had started making it then. She already did two albums under my roof,” she said.

According to her, the woman’s husband caused tension in the house due to what she described as controlling behaviour and his refusal to contribute positively.

The singer said the man insisted that it was wrong for him to support his wife’s music career even though he was living comfortably in the house.

She added that the situation later became difficult, leading her to ask the couple to leave.

According to her, the woman’s music career declined after they moved out.

Tope Alabi also shared another experience involving a different couple whom she said later turned against her despite the help she gave them.

She said these experiences caused emotional and spiritual challenges for her and her family, though she expressed gratitude for overcoming that period.

Looking back, Tope Alabi said she eventually stopped helping people in the industry due to what she described as repeated betrayal.

Tope Alabi is one of Nigeria’s most prominent gospel singers known for Yoruba gospel songs and soundtrack work in films. She began her career in theatre before transitioning fully into gospel music and has released several albums over the years, including Ore ti o Common and Angeli Mi.
