Tompolo denies involvement in pipeline attack

Former Niger Delta militant commander, Government Ekpemupolo (popularly known as Tompolo), has dissociated himself from the wanton attacks on oil installations in the Warri area of Delta state on Friday.

Speaking through his media aide, Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo said, “I am not responsible for the attack and I condemn it as a dastardly act. I am aware that some persons might want to destroy oil installations and link it with me that was why I said before time that I have nothing to do with it.

“I could not have gone ahead to carry out such action knowing that every finger will be pointed at me because of my case with the Federal Government.” he added.

Suspected militants blew up strategic pipelines in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State hours after a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered security operatives to arrest Tompolo.

The order of arrest warrant was issued on Thursday.

Multiple explosions also rocked several oil installations between Ikpokpo and Odidi flow stations, mostly in Gbaramatu kingdom.

Tompolo hails from Kurutie community in Gbaramatu.

It was gathered that the attacks started shortly before midnight and lasted till the early hours of Friday.
