Tiwa Savage becomes first Nigerian female signed to Universal Music Group

Pop musician, Tiwa Savage, has signed a deal with global music entertainment company, Universal Music Group, ending her association with Mavin Records.

The 39-year-old singer posted pictures from the signing on Instagram on Thursday.

“Allow me to Re-Introduce myself 💪🏽,” she wrote.

The deal was sealed at the Universal office in California, and those present included music executives, Efe Ogbeni, Vanessa Amadi and CEO of Universal Music Group Worldwide, Sir Lucian Grainge.

Per the terms of her contract, Tiwa Savage’s music will be promoted in over 60 countries, it also makes her the first Nigerian female act to be signed to the label.

The deal also means her seven stint with Mavin Records comes to end, earlier in the day, Don Jazzy announced Tiwa Savage’s exit from Mavin Records, after a seven years stint.

The ‘Ma Lo’ singer had posted a picture with Sir Lucian Grainge in the early hours of Thursday.

While reacting to Don Jazzy’s sendoff post for her, Tiwa Savage had revealed that she was nervous to tell the music mogul when she got pregnant.
