Tinsel stars call for public donation to complete Victor Olaotan’s treatment

Actors in one of Nigeria’s longest-running TV series, Tinsel, have put heads together to call for public donation to complete the medical treatment of Nollywood actor, Victor Olaotan.

The actor is popular for his leading role as Fred Ade Williams in Tinsel.

Olaotan was involved in a ghastly car crash in 2016 along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway and has been bedridden since then.

In a second public call recorded on Monday, Tinsel’s cast like Ireti Doyle, Ike Okechukwu, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi and others are seen pleading for help to raise $250,000 to complete Olaotan’s treatment.

According to them, Olaotan’s treatment has stopped as his family has run out of funds.

A GoFundMe account was created by actor Gbenro Ajibade in 2018 to raise about $50,000 for Olaotan’s treatment.

A Victor Olaotan Recovery Fund account has now been opened to aid public donation.

“It is with utmost humility and no sense of entitlement that we ask,” they said.

Some of them have also taken to Instagram to call for support.

Actress Abiola Segun-Williams said in a recent post on Instagram that she was enamoured by Olaotan’s looks when she met him in 2008.

“…His luscious white hair, his strong sense of fashion and everyday grooming of his total visage. He was a very fashionable man. I called him FADA like most of us did,” she said.

The actress added with a picture of Olaotan in a wheelchair: “The lives that we touch with our monies bless the lord on our behalf and such gestures are recorded in eternity. We have given but more needs to be given to bring Victor Olaotan back!! God bless you all as you give.”

Actress Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, another Tinsel star, also joined the call on Instagram.

She suggested individual donation of at least N500 to the bank accounts provided to aid Olaotan’s post-surgery care, medication and physiotherapy.

“If we could all make a donation of just 500 NGN, it would go a very long way towards completing his treatment and pay his outstanding bills,” she said.

A graduate of the University of Ibadan, Olaotan has appeared in films like Towo Tomo, Lovestruck and Three Wise Men.
