Gospel artist Judikay has shared a distressing experience she went through while 34 weeks pregnant with her second child in Canada, where she said a routine scan led to alarming claims about her unborn baby.
The singer, whose real name is Judith Kanayo-Opara, recounted the experience during her daughter’s dedication service, describing how what was expected to be a normal medical check became deeply concerning.
She said the sonographer told her that the baby had no nose, was not breathing, and advised her to undergo a down syndrome test.
In her words: “At 34 weeks, I traveled to Canada to have my baby, and I went for a scan. They said she did not have a nose and that I would need to do a Down syndrome test, and also that she was not breathing. I called my husband, and he said I should tear the report and that we were not going to do any test.”
Judikay said she contacted her husband immediately after the scan, and he advised her not to proceed with further tests. She said the couple chose instead to trust God and continue the pregnancy without additional medical investigations.
She added that the baby was eventually delivered safely, although doctors later discovered that the umbilical cord had been wrapped around the baby’s neck twice in the womb.
The singer said the testimony reflected a difficult period for her and her family, especially after waiting several years before welcoming her second child.
Judikay is married to her husband, Anselem Opara, and they also have a first child together.
