Teenager docked for house breaking

An 18-year-old man, Babale Mohammed, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court in Benin for allegedly breaking into the house of one Ogbewi Michael.

The Prosecutor, Mr David Akhigbe, said the accused committed the offence on March 13 at Plot 1, Ogbewi Avenue, Ugiokhuen Quarters, Benin City.

According to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Code, Cap 48, Vol. II, Laws of defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable to Edo State.

Mohammed, arraigned on one-count charge before Magistrate M. O. Ojo, pleaded not guilty.

He was granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum who must be a resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

The prosecutor did not object to the bail conditions.

The magistrate subsequently adjourned the case until March 3 for hearing.
