The Technical Adviser of MFM FC, Lagos, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has urged his players to remain focused when they meet AS Bamako of Mali in the second leg of CAF Champions League.

The coach made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.

NAN reports that MFM, debutant in the prestigious CAF Champions League, had secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against AS Real Bamako at the Stade Modibo Keita in Bamako in the first leg.

The second leg will be played at the Soccer Temple, Agege Township Stadium on Wednesday.

Ilechukwu, who underplayed the goal advantage in Mali, said that it might not necessarily count because the Malians might be on a revenge mission.

“Football is not sometimes a predictable game, you cannot say that you have a goal advantage going away, then you are confident of winning your next game at home.

“The AS Bamako team is also a strong side and we have to respect them. The only thing is that we are going to adopt new tactics different from what we used in Mali.

“It won’t be the same type of approach; we will not sit back and defend. We need to attack them because they can have a goal too and that will be bad for the team,’’ he said.

Ilechukwu urged the club’s fans to cheer the team because they were their backbone.

“Our game against AS Bamako is a crucial one and a decider, so we need all the support now to go further in the Champions League.

“I am not promising anything but good football from my team and with God, on our side we shall be the winning side,’’ he said.
