court

A 16-year-old student Kehinde Timilehin who allegedly murdered his schoolmate has been remanded.

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court ruled on Wednesday.

The accused, a student of Ado Grammar School, Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti, is standing trial for murder of 18-year-old Favour Matthew.

The prosecutor Johnson Okunade said the accused stabbed Matthew on the chest and killed him on December 6 in Ado-Ekiti.

NAN reports that the court did not take the plea of the accused as Chief Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye said he needed advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

He ordered that the accused should be kept at the state Children Correctional Centre, pending the DPP’s advice.

Mr Adegboye adjourned the case until January 18 for mention.
