An image of veteran Nigerian actress, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, has been selected by the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago for an exhibition which kicks off on October 20.

This was disclosed in a mail by Project Manager, “Nollywood Portraits: A Radical Beauty”, Osahon Akpata, and made available to Qed.ng.

The elegant portrait was made by Iké Udé as part of the “Nollywood Portraits: A Radical Beauty” project.

The Chicago exhibition, according to Akpata, “will also feature The School of Nollywood, a grand group portrait representing a cross section of the industry.”

Founded in 1984 by Columbia College Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Photography is well known for an active programme and curating which discovers many emerging and mid-career artists.

Speaking in an interview with this online newspaper on Tuesday, Mrs Ajai-Lycett, 75, expressed her delight at the choice of her portrait for the exhibition.

“I am delighted to share this news with you. It is one of many more from me,” she said.
