Four persons have reportedly been killed by suspected herdsmen in Abraka community, Ethiope East council area of Delta State.

The attacks were said to have occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Abraka is host to the main campus of Delta State University (DELSU). It is also the hometown of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in March 9 elections, Great Ogboru.

A father of seven, Kennedy Ukuanovwe, a native of Urhuovie Quarters of Abraka, was said to be among those attacked by the herders along Abraka-Benin Road while riding his motorcycle.

The other three victims, who are yet to be identified, are said to be a woman, a soldier and one other male.

A source in the area said: “It was only Kennedy (Ukuanovwe), who was killed on Tuesday night that has been identified.

“The other three dead people have not been identified in person yet. The other three were killed by herdsmen this morning (Wednesday).”

Security operatives including police officers have combed the area in search of clues to the attackers.

Delta police commissioner, Adeyinka Adeleke, said: “The problem is it is not only one person that died. We saw corpses.

“Other persons also died but we don’t know who actually killed them. Our men are still in the bush. When they come out, they will be able to give details.”
