A suspected coronavirus (Covid-19) patient has been quarantined in Enugu, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on Sunday.

In a statement posted on Twitter on Sunday, the NCDC said the result of the test is being awaited.

The statement read: “The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is aware of the patient in Enugu, suspected to have COVID-19.

“This is one of several alerts received daily at the National COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre.

“The patient is in isolation, sample collected and results expected tomorrow.”

Since the virus broke out in Wuhan, China last December, over 125,000 people worldwide have been infected with 4,600 deaths according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
