Sunday Adelaja flees Ukraine, says he’s on Putin’s death list

Founder of Ukraine-based Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations Sunday Adelaja has fled the country with his family, alleging there is a plot by Russia to kill him.

In a video posted to Facebook on Saturday, Adelaja said he got intelligence from the United States through Ukrainian authorities that he was on the list of persons targeted for elimination since Russia invaded Ukraine on the orders of President Vladimir Putin.

“This is a video I have been looking forward to recording in 48 hours. This is the first time; I and my family have been able to have a place to put our heads on,” said Adelaja, wearing a hoodie.

“In the last 48 hours, we have been travelling, sometimes we will walk, and sometimes we will run. Other times, we are in a car or standing in a long queue with everyone who wants to escape for the safety of their lives from Ukraine.

“I had wanted to stay back and send my wife out of the country if necessary but then I got information that in a few days, that was two days ago, that the Russians will enter Kyiv and from the American intelligence we got to know that they have a list of people for elimination.

“This is not for ordinary people but for influential people, people who have a public opinion and that I am on that list.”

The preacher, whose church is the largest Christian denomination in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, said he had been declared persona non grata in Russia since 2005.

Although, he did not disclose his location, Adelaja said he and his family are in a safe place.

He added that before he left Ukraine he gathered some African students and others who lived with him in an underground bunker in his house for safety.

Adelaja called on the public to continue praying for Ukraine.
